CYPRUS - First Temporary Casino Opens in Limassol with 33 table games and 242 Gaming Machines
The first temporary casino opens its doors on Thursday in Limassol.
The C2 Cyprus casino will be operational until 2021 when the City of Dreams Mediterranean, which is under construction, is expected to open.
The Limassol casino is housed in the former Orphanides supermarket in Zakaki. The building was renovated at a cost of around €12 million. It has an area of 4,600m² and a capacity for 1,000 people. It is expected that around 25,000 will visit monthly.
The temporary casino has 33 tables and 242 gaming machines, a VIP room, a restaurant and two bars serving food and drink, and admission will be allowed only to adults aged 21 and older. Its staff will amount to 593 people, of which 75 per cent are Cypriots.
According to the casino management, the official inauguration is expected to take place in September, until when it will work on a trial basis.
This is the first casino of the Melco Group outside Asia. The satellite casinos of Nicosia and Paphos will open to the public before the end of the year. The Larnaca and Famagusta casinos will be next, opening in 2019.
